The Archives: Detroit

The Ruins of Detroit

June, from my vacation in Florida. Quite the change from the snowy cold of Detroit.

Christmas Day loading into Detroit. June arranged for a friend of ours visiting family in the area to stop by and deliver some gifts. It really made working on Christmas day a bit more bearable. (Note the harness: I was just about to focus the FOH lighting truss when Marcia showed up)

One of the 4,000 derelict buildings in Detroit. Some really amazing architecture that is simply in ruins.

`

The Masonic Temple (where we played in Detroit) has over 1100 rooms, including a marble surrounded pool above the stage that was never completed when the building was hastily finished in the depression.

Standing in the deep end.

Michigan Central Railroad Station: Supposedly designed by the same person who did Grand Central in NY. Every window is broken out and it is now abandoned.

DISNEYWORLD!

I took a weeks vacation in Detroit and flew to Florida to see June. Walt and Mickey in front of the castle.

Epcot. I wore shorts for the whole week!

Central (?) Florida on the way to a lake house to relax for a few days. I just love this road with the old oaks and Spanish moss.

Epcot-At Night. June and I. Still in shorts!
