The Archives: Washington D.C. ’02-“Mamma Mia!”

The Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington Cemetery and the lone guard.

“Here rest in honored glory an American 1soldier known but to God”.

The Korean Memorial at night. I found this memorial to be one of the most moving of any I saw.

Vietnam Memorial, with a reflection of the Mall and the Washington Monument.

Just after we arrived in DC, it was Cherry Blossom time. Hundreds of them planted around the Tidal Basin as a gift from Japan. Absolutely gorgeous.

Albert. Einstein, that is. Just go north from the Vietnam Memorial. A great place to relax and feel good about the world after the Korean and Vietnam Memorials.

More of my shutterbug coming out. The Washington Monument, of course.

A hike on Maryland Heights, above Harper’s Ferry. Left to Right: Myself, Lorrie Ledesma (spot 2) and Ryan Silverman (“Sky”).

A bit creepy looking, but 2 of the original masks from the Nairobi Trio bit from the “Ernie Kovaks Show”. If you don’t know what the Nairobi trio was, it’s a bit hard to explain.

Sunday before Memorial Day. An event called Rolling Thunder. Thousands and thousands of motorcycles riding to remember POWs and MIA’s and all who’ve served. Truly amazing.
