A Letter from his daughter, MarquetteDear Dad, At long last, you are now reunited with Mom, and you both are in the presence of our Lord. I am so very happy for you. You have waited long for this time to come. I want to thank you for being my Dad. I know that you did your very best at everything you did. Thank you for always being there to patch up my many sundry injuries. Thank you for letting me tag along, even when I was quite little, whether you were cooking, or gardening or taking things to the dump. Thank you for taking care of the baby rabbits the cat brought home. Even though they didn’t survive long, I know you did your best with them. Thank you for building the Valentine Post Box for my 4th grade class. Thank you for all of the cooking – BBQs, pizzas, donuts, sukiyaki, carousel cakes, peach pit jelly, apple butter and the like. Thank you for being a soldier. I could not be prouder than to have a father who served in the US military. Thank you for encouraging me spiritually – even long before you became a regular at church. Thank you for getting up and going to work, no matter what. Thank you for the many corsages you made for me when I was little. Thank you for bringing ‘foreignness’ into my life with clothing and stories from Korea and Okinawa. Thank you for accepting that I didn’t choose the life you would have chosen for me. Dad, just as I miss Mom, I will miss you. No matter how far away you were, I rested comfortably knowing that you were my Dad. Thank you. Love, Marquette |
