A Brief Introduction

Louis Ross Lowther was born to Jack and Minta Lowther on August 24, 1925 in Caldwell Idaho. He was the youngest of five children. He was born 30 minutes after his twin sister Lois. He was raised in the Boise Valley in the towns of Melba and Garden Valley. Lou attended Boise High School but left in his senior year. He later received his GED while in the Army. He joined the Army in 1943 where he served as a medical corpsman on a hospital train during World War II. He traveled through France, Germany, Austria, Holland, Luxemburg, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, England and Wales. Among his awards, he received the Good Conduct medal and the Rhineland Battle medal. Lou married Carol Newman on January 13, 1946. The Lord gave them four children. After retiring from the military in 1964, Lou worked at Northwest Printer Supply. He accepted the Lord at the age of six and was raised in the Foursquare Church. As an adult he attended the First Baptist Church of Eastgate in Bellevue, Washington, Bethany Baptist Church of Kenmore, Washington, and Tabernacle Baptist Church of Shoreline, Washington. He began attending Tabernacle in 1988 and joined in 1992. He served as a deacon, on the missionary committee, in hilarious "Henry and Doris" skits with Carol, and cooked some of the best chili known to man. His Texas Barbeque was also world renowned! He videoed countless Senior Trips from the Tabernacle Seniors Group. He and Carol were the "Couple of the Year" at Tab in 1999. He loved Southern Gospel Music, a good steak (medium rare), any John Wayne movie and any sports on TV (except basketball!). His favorite book of the Bible was the Psalms and Proverbs, his favorite chapter was Hebrews 11 (The "Hall of Faith") and his favorite verse was John 3:16. The person who had the greatest impact on his life was a scoutmaster when he was a child. He is preceded in death by his brothers Johnny and Donald, a sister Rita, and his wife Carol.
