Aloha!

Actually, My alohas. You probably know, I have a penchant for collecting aloha shirts. Well, over time, I’ve collected a few (46 as of December 2002 including 4 specifically Christmas alohas-Hilo Hattie, Reyn Spooner, Tori Richards & Yo Wear.). I have those I refer to as “authentic” alohas (made in Hawaii, usually wood or coconut buttons and my preference is for the front pocket to match the rest of the pattern) and other colorful shirts. I really don’t discriminate.

I've made thumbnails of the shirts. Click on one you like and a larger version will load. Use the "Back" button on your browser to go back to the thumbnails after viewing a shirt. Each shirt has a name (not from me, from the designer, you goof. I’m not THAT far gone). Unfortunately, I don’t remember all of the names and haven’t been able to find them yet. I’ve listed those that I know.

I have been searching for the perfect “backstage” aloha: All Black and just this past year found 2. The first is a Kahala that is a dark grey print on black. The piece de resistance was found at a Hilo Hatties at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas. All black with a patter woven in. I’ve included a close up of the pattern.

I do most of my business with a fantastic company called “Paradise on a Hanger”. They’re actually located in Colorado, but carry a wide selection and are some of the nicest, friendliest and most professional people I’ve dealt with in a long time. You can check them out at: www.hotshirts.com. If you do stop by, feel free to tell them I sent you. I actually do get sort of a kickback from them!

Anyway, I thought I’d post them and share my hobby. I find they bring a bit of sunshine almost anywhere and brighten one’s mood. Hard to get a real good “mad” going when you’ve got a big parrot on your chest! Hopefully, you’ll enjoy them as well.

(By the way, I apologize for the rumpled condition and quality of some of the pictures. They've been taken on hotel beds and floors across the country.)

(To my Mamma Mia friends, I realized in building these pages that I'd forgotten the Tommy Bahama y'all gave me. Fortunately, I like it so much that it's is one of the few I carry with me on the road, so I'll remedy the situation soon)
